After finishing a great book or movie I often go online and read the bad reviews. This allows me to gain interesting and opposing opinions about the ideas that I freshly studied and found so great.
Sometimes it may lessen the beauty of my vision of the work but it gives it much more dimension by having opposing point of views and harsh critics. These give me some new perspectives to think about the topic and a fuller understanding by focusing on parts that I didn’t see.
I never do the opposite, which is looking for good reviews for things that I found uninteresting, poor or stupid. It would often be a time loss to do so, but sometimes I may yield new understandings.
